Enjoy stories, songs, and rhymes in English and Spanish. No registration required. All ages welcome. Children must be with a caregiver.

Join us for an Open House at the Child Health Partnership office as part of Welcoming Week(s)! Stop by to connect with our team, learn more about our work, and celebrate the spirit of community. This is a wonderful opportunity to meet neighbors, and see how Child Health Partnership supports families across our area.

Join volunteertutors, students, staff, and board members for conversation and to learn more about how the work that we do empowers adults in our community with literacy, basic education, andU.S. citizenship tutoring. We hope you'll join us!

The Charlottesville Center for Peace and Justice will hold its annual Community Gathering on Tuesday, September 16th, one day after the International Day of Democracy (9/15) and one day before the U.S. Constitution Day (9/17). This gathering of civic oriented, non-profit, activist organizations will bring together people working on some issues with their counterparts working on other issues to plan actions. The Community Gathering will be in person.

The gathering and potluck will begin at 5:30 and the program will begin at 6:30 PM in the Fellowship Hall.

Trivia Night hosted by the Charlottesville DSA and the Migrant Rights Committee. Free & open to the public.

Running To Stand Still – Migrants Search For Hope In The Promised Land, is a documentary film about the humanitarian crisis on the U.S. / Mexico border.  Running seeks to put a human face on the immigration “issue” by telling heartbreaking and inspiring stories about the migrants themselves—courageous and dignified human beings whose lives stand as a powerful rebuke to a narrative that is fraught with hatred, alarmist rhetoric, and dehumanizing stereotypes.

Come join us at Central Children's for a fun Welcoming Week storytime with local author Jay Pun! He'll be sharing his delightful book “Som Tum and Sticky Rice” and sharing stories from his journey as a musician, restaurateur, educator, and parent. After the reading, stick around for a raffle, a book signing, and a tasty sample of traditional Thai food from our friends at Chimm. In celebration of Welcoming Week

Learn the basics of traditional calligraphy developed in South Asia, the Middle East, and North Africa. No experience required. You'll take home a beautiful piece you can display in your home. 

This fact-based, unbiased, and educational presentation will explore some of the current immigration policy changes, who these changes impact, and resources for professionals serving these clients.

Facilitators include Alyson Howe Ball, Community Development Committee member with the International Rescue Committee, and Rosemary Beard Heflin, Senior Family Support Supervisor with Child Health Partnership.
